Marketing is Everything Online

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Thousands of businesses fail every year due to problems or a lack of a marketing campaign. Many people think they can design a website and make it go live and immediately begin getting hits on their site. It really doesn’t work this way.

Marketing a site properly means that the site will be built with a good functionality and working so the users don’t get lost on the site, there are no broken links, and it is pleasing to the user. It also means that the site will have content that optimizes the sites fully for use with search engines. This will allow for top rankings with the search engines for your site. For example, when you sell mma equipment the content must be directly related and contain the right words users are typing in the search engines. You don’t want to have an article off of the subject of martial arts and begin talking about the history in Japan and how Green tea is healthy to drink. Doing this will send your page to results about green tea and not about your martial arts.

Marketing also means getting the word out about the fact that your online business actually exists. There are millions of web pages on the World Wide Web. What makes you any different from the millions of others? You must find this out and be on a mission to prove it to everyone out there on the web. A hype about your business and your product must be created. How can this be done virtually? The web has opened new doors with the new abilities of Web 2.0 and now users can actually be interactive with their surfing.

Marketing efforts online are almost free today. You can spend thousands of dollars to hire an SEO web design company to help you sell your candles but you can also do your marketing for free if you have the time. All it takes is a little social networking, blogging, bookmarking, article writing, and more and you will be able to drive traffic to your business on your own.

There are rules and guidelines across the web you must follow. Many people get carried away with their efforts of optimization they actually don’t think about breaking any rules. Your keywords must be naturally integrated on your site or you will be blacklisted from the search engines and then your traffic will be almost null. The problems occur when developers take a specific keyword and type it hidden in the code of the HTML on the back end of a site. This will make a site pull up first in the ranks for only a short term.

Marketing is everything when it comes to online marketing efforts and designing the right site. If you want to be successful you must design a marketing campaign that includes the right design, content, keywords, social networking, and creating hype. Marketing is what will generate users to find out what your services and products are all about.
